We create confident speakers, readers and writers within children in the EYFS and Key Stage 1, and are committed to supporting your child and the family on your Phonics journey.

What is Phonics?

Phonics is a recognised and effective method of teaching children how to read and write by learning the relationship between letters and their sounds.


Before children are able to learn to read short stories and write simple words and sentences, they need to be able to:


  • Recognise, identify and articulate (produce) speech sounds
  • Blend (put sounds together to form words)
  • Segment (break words down into their individual sounds)
